An announcement was made this morning by The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar T.D. that all schools will close from 6.00 pm this evening 12.3.2020, until 29.3.2020 to support efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. This is in line with the advice of the National Public Health Emergency Team.
All students are urged to practice social distancing and to minimise physical contact with each other, to help avoid the spread of Covid-19. This should include minimising social contact, avoid meeting up and keeping physical space between them. Parents and Guardians are urged to support their children in this.
In order to minimise the impact on teaching and learning St. Kevin’s CC will continue to plan lessons and where possible, provide on line resources and/or on line exercises. All of our students have been provided with an email address and password and our teachers will be available via email to set work and give formative feedback throughout the usual hours of the school day.
In preparation for this possibility, we have asked all of our students to bring home their books and learning materials. Teachers have given set work to be done during this period. Please ensure that your child uses this time to continue with the lessons and work given to them. Ask your children to check their email regularly. If you have any difficulties accessing this please email ciaranduffy@stkevinscc.ie outlining your issue.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
- St. Kevin’s will communicate with parents and guardians through the school text messaging service and with students via their St. Kevin’s CC email.
- The administration team in the office will be working remotely and Emails will continue to be answered (admin@stkevinscc.ie).
- Please be aware that the school will only communicate with you via the school text service or Facebook page. Be wary of messages and information regarding the school on social media, other than our official Facebook page.
Regardless of the disruption that this is bringing, we ask you all to take care of yourselves and to continue to follow all necessary advice from the HSE regarding hygiene, hand washing and coughing/sneezing procedures.
Yours sincerely,
TONY BARRY – PRINCIPAL
CIARÁN DUFFY – DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
